Nara Chandrababu Naidu Biography

Nara Chandrababu Naidu (born 20 April 1950) is an Indian politician and the President of Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh. He is the currently serving his second non-consecutive term as the Chief Minister ofAndhra Pradesh.

Naidu became the state's youngest assembly member and youngest minister at 28, and served as the longest chief minister of the state from 1995 to 2004. He unleashed a series of reforms after taking over the reins of state. With a firm conviction, Naidu laid emphasis on the use of modern information technology. Thus, he was instrumental in making Hyderabad one of the IT hubs in India and earned praise from global leaders and media for his public policies and approach to governance.

The 2004 election defeat for Naidu was primarily attributed to the Farmer not being factored high in his scheme of things. The severe drought and increasing debt had driven hundreds of farmers in the state to commit suicide. Naidu ignored the large rural population with his policies, which created a negative image for him. He subsequently lost 2009 Assembly elections and became the longest serving Leader of opposition since 2004. Naidu was also criticized for his frequent change of mind regarding support to Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation. He stormed back into power in the general elections held in 2014.
Many call him India's only politician with a 21st-century vision and perhaps the only chief minister in independent India whose objectives and achievements are difficult to describe without using terms out of classic management texts. British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. President Bill Clinton visited Hyderabad during Naidu's tenure as chief minister, and theGovernor of Illinois proclaimed a Naidu Day in his honor. He has won a number of awards, including IT Indian of the Millennium from India Today, Business Person of the Year by The Economic Times, South Asian of the Year from Time Asia and membership in the World Economic Forum's Dream Cabinet. Naidu chaired the National IT Panel under the NDA government and was described as one of the "hidden seven", working wonders around the world, by Profit (Oracle Corporation's monthly magazine)

Biography: Narendra Damodardas Modi

Narendra Damodardas Modi, born 17 September 1950) is the 15th and current Prime Minister of India. He is the first Prime minister to be born after Indian Independence. Modi, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat state from 2001 to 2014. He is currently the Member of Parliament (MP) from Varanasi.

Modi was a key strategist for the BJP in the successful 1995 and 1998 Gujarat state election campaigns. He became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001 and served longer in that position than anyone else to date. Modi was a major campaign figure in the 2009 general election, which the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance lost to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA). He led the BJP in the 2014 general election, which resulted in an outright majority for the BJP in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian parliament) – the last time that any party had secured an outright majority in the Lok Sabha was in 1984.
Modi is a Hindu Nationalist and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS). He is a controversial figure both within India as well as internationally as his administration has been criticised for failing to act to prevent the 2002 Gujarat riots. Modi has been praised for his economic policies, which are credited with creating an environment for a high rate of economic growth in Gujarat However, his administration has also been criticised for failing to make a significant positive impact upon the human development of the state.

Early life and education

Modi was born on 17 September 1950 to a family of grocers belonging to the backward Ghanchi-Teli (oil-presser) community, in Vadnagar in Mehsana district of erstwhile Bombay State (present-day Gujarat), India.  He was the third of six children born to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and his wife, Heeraben. He helped his father sell tea at Vadnagar railway station. As a child and as a teenager, he ran a tea stall with his brother near a bus terminus. In 1967, he completed his schooling in Vadnagar, where a teacher described him as being an average student, but a keen debater who had an interest in theatre.

That interest has influenced how he now projects himself in politics. At the age of eight, Modi came in contact with RSS and he began attending its local shakhas where he came in contact with Lakshmanrao Inamdar, popularly known as Vakil Saheb, who is known as his political guru and mentor. Inamdar inducted Modi as a balswayamsevak, a junior cadet in RSS. During his morning exercise session at the keri pitha shakha of RSS, he also came in contact with Vasant Gajendragadkar and Nathalal Jaghda, leaders of the Jan Sangh who later founded the BJP's Gujarat state unit in 1980.

Modi's parents arranged his marriage as a child, in keeping with the traditions of the Ghanchi caste. He was engaged at the age of 13 to Jashodaben Chimanlal and the couple were married by the time he was 18. They spent very little time together and were soon estranged because Modi decided to pursue an itinerant life, and reportedly the marriage was never consummated. Modi kept the marriage secret for most of his career only acknowledging the existence of his wife when filing his nomination for a parliamentary seat in the 2014 general elections.

As per Modi in Kishore Makwana's Common Man Narendra Modi, published in 2014, after leaving home at 17, he went to Ramakrishna Mission ashram in Rajkot and then to the Belur Math near Kolkata. Then he went to Guwahati and later joined another ashram set up by Swami Vivekananda in Almora, in the Himalayan foothills. Two years after, he returned to Vadnagar and after a brief halt at his house, Modi left again for Ahmedabad, where he lived and worked in a tea stall run by his uncle where he again came in contact with Lakshmanrao Inamdar who was then based at Hedgewar Bhavan, the RSS headquarters in the city. He then worked in the staff canteen of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation until he became a full–time pracharak (campaigner) of the RSS in 1970. In 1978, Modi graduated with an extramural degree through Distance Education in political science from Delhi University. In 1983, while remaining as a pracharak in the RSS, completed his Master's degree in political science from Gujarat University. He still continues to visit Belur Math occasionally and talks about his reverence for the Ramakrishna Mission.

Four Inspiring Success Stories, For IAS Aspirants

4. Rashmi Zagade – The Only Lady IAS Officer from Pune in 2010

Rashmi Siddharth Zagade from Pune began her IAS saga in 2003 and clicked it in 2010 to become the only lady IAS officer from the whole of Pune City in the same year. Inspiringly, after making four unsuccessful attempts before, the 29 year old finally bagged 169th rank among more than 800 candidates and proudly gave the credit to Siddharth Zagade, her school drop-out husband!
Despite seeing a great deal of failure previous to her success, that is, four consecutive failed attempts, Rashmi did not give up, and went on with determination and support from her husband. And after making it to the interview stage the fourth time, she took a year’s break to prepare further and never looked back. Rashmi dropped geography and opted for history before reappearing this time when she ultimately did it. Why she credited her husband for her success was because it was he who prodded her to appear for IAS, even when, being a science graduate, she had no idea what this exam was all about!

3. Gopala Sundara Raj and R.V. Karnan – The Rank-holders Who Dodged all the Hurdles

In the year 2012, Gopala Sundara Raj and R.V. Karnan secured the 5th and the 158th ranks respectively in the Civil Services Exam results. Raj comes from Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu and R.V. Karnan hails from Karaikudi city of Sivaganga district of the same state.
Raj’s parents, who couldn’t study beyond primary school in their childhood, always wanted to put him in English medium background of school but had to drop the idea just because of bad financial conditions. However, they could not believe it when their son cleared IAS despite not having studied in a sophisticated environment, proving that poverty can never be an obstruction in the way of success if you are dedicated to your dreams.
R.V. Karnan, who was the national topper in the IFS examination in the year 2007, is one of a few civil services aspirants who believed and proved that coaching centers and medium of instruction are not compulsory to clear these top exams. His father works as a librarian at a college and mother is a sub-registrar in their home town. Karnan always gave more weight coaching.

2. K. Jayaganesh – from Waiter to an IAS Officer

If you don’t believe in the mantra of trying again and again regardless of how many times you’ve already failed, maybe you ought to go through K. Jayaganesh’s journey of becoming an IAS officer. The man hails from a poor family in Tamil Nadu and did many odd jobs, including working as a waiter, before make his dream come true.
Setting an example for IAS aspirants, Jayaganesh secured 156th rank the seventh time (his last chance) and got selected for Indian Administrative Services after failing the civil service exam for six times! Krishnan, Jayaganesh’s father worked as a supervisor in a factory, brought him up in Vinavamangalam, a small village in Vellore district. Jayaganesh is the eldest of his siblings (a brother and two sisters) and completed his schooling after studying in the village up to the 8th standard.

1. Govind Jaiswal – The Son of a Rickshaw Puller

Born in dismal poverty in Varanasi, Govind achieved 48th rank in 2007’s civil services results. Govind spent childhood in a rented, congested room that he’d to share with three sisters and his parents, with no scope of time and the right setting for study at all. He began to aspire to become an IAS officer when his father and mother, a rickshaw puller and a housewife respectively, sent him to a school in Varanasi.
Even though Govind wanted to go for the civil services through school, IAS always seemed beyond reach, mostly because of poverty. The condition of the family became even worse when his father got a serious leg injury and could no long pull rickshaws. Govind still managed to find room for his dream and became an IAS officer at an age of 23.
